Experimental Investigation of the Hydrodynamic Performance of Land-Fixed Nearshore and Onshore Oscillating Water Column Systems with a Thick Front Wall

Most experimental research on land-fixed Oscillating Water Column (OWC) systems assume that the OWC-water wave interaction happens with waves propagate normally towards device. However, angle of incidence can determine performance OWC, in particular period at which device resonates. In this study, an investigation to examine regular, oblique, water a land-fixed, thick-front wall OWC terms its hydrodynamic is reported. A 1:20 Froude scale was used replicate single chamber Mutriku Wave Energy Plant (MWEP), and series tests were carried out spectral basin. The goal study look how incident direction location affect regular conditions varying heights. hydraulic includes assessment amplification factor, efficiency, non-dimensional air pressure inside pressures walls. findings show that, for nearshore device, resonance occurs decreases when increases. For corresponding angles, similar results found onshore devices, slight frequency shift bandwidth efficiency. Furthermore, it height increases, efficiency improves both short long periods, exception period, where trend reversed. Finally, regardless location, thick front performs well interacting intermediate long-period waves.
